'Still paying for mistakes of the past' - Nottingham Forest fans react after terms agreed for player exit

By Abigail Withey

Nottingham Forest fans have provided mixed responses on social media after the club announced that goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic would be leaving the club.

The 34-year-old stopper joined the Championship side last summer from Israel outfit Maccabi Haifa and made 21 appearances for the Reds.

The Serbia international spent the opening of his debut season in goal for the club but found himself being left out during the latter half of the campaign after a string of defeats.

Nottingham Forest announced the news on their official Twitter account and stating that the club and keeper “have agreed to the mutual termination of his contract”.

Fans have expressed their mixed responses with a number of supporters stating that they were pleased the keeper was no longer at the club, while others wished him the best for the future.

Here is a selection of their responses on Twitter:

The 34-year-old stopper last made an appearance in a Forest shirt back in February during the club’s 3-2 defeat at Fulham, but recently appeared surplus to requirements.

Stojkovic follows the likes of left-back Dani Pinollos and centre-forward Britt Assombalonga who also made a departure from the City ground this summer.

Mark Warburton has a number of keeper options with Dimitar Evtimov, Jordan Smith and Liam Bossin all available while Stephen Henderson remains out with an achilles tendon injury which has seen him sidelined since February.

In other Nottingham Forest news, one of the club’s midfielders has provided an injury update to fans.
