BT Sport pundit Chris Sutton destroyed Dedryck Boyata for his poor performance in Celtic’s 3-2 win over Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday.

Boyata, 27, was easily at fault for the first goal that the Light Blues scored when he dallied on the ball, allowing Josh Windass to nick it off him and fire past Scott Bain.

The Belgian’s display failed to improve after that as he, as well as most of the Bhoys backline, looked unable to cope with the in-form Gers attack.

Sutton held no punches in blasting Boyata during the game.

“Boyata is having a stinker,” said the former Celtic and Blackburn forward on his personal Twitter account.

Brendan Rodgers has failed to improve his defence despite it being a clear weakpoint in his squad. There were signs of it becoming the weaklink last season, but this term it has been a calamity at times with Boyata at the heart of it. Rodgers needs to overhaul his defensive options in the summer. Jozo Simunovic is not good enough either, so it would not be a surprised to see both of them sold off to make way for replacements. With Champions League football a strong possibility, it should not be hard to attract one or two top-centre-backs to Parkhead.

In other Celtic news, this Arsenal star has claimed he would rather see this Rangers fringe player score against Celtic than win the lottery.
