Kevin Danso impresses, 2/10 horrific - Every Sunderland summer signing ranked
Regis Le Bris is hoping to go from strength to strength at Sunderland after an incredible return to the Premier League last season.
The Black Cats are competing in the Europa League in 2026-27, kicking off their campaign with a 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar at the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland are currently sitting 14th in the Premier League after five games, but that did include back-to-back games against Arsenal and Manchester City.
Supporters at the Stadium of Light would have expected a lot of action during the summer transfer window, but there were far more outgoings than incomings, frustratingly.
Le Bris did manage to keep hold of Granit Xhaka and Wilson Isidor, but the Black Cats haven't quite been able to continue their form from last term.
With all of this in mind, Football Insider has ranked each of the club's summer transfers after the first handful of the season's fixtures.
Kevin Danso - 9/10
The best of them all, Kevin Danso has been a rock at the back since arriving on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, joining Dan Ballard and Luke O'Nien in defence.
The 28-year-old has effectively only cost his wage, and the Black Cats could even trigger a buy clause in his contract if he continues in his current form.
Thomas Meunier - 7/10
Thomas Meunier was certainly a surprise signing for the Premier League side, but the 35-year-old free transfer has been a breath of fresh air.
Despite his age, he has started all five of Sunderland's Premier League matches, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge into the team.
Dayann Methalie - 4/10
Sunderland were wrapped up in a transfer battle for Dayann Methalie, and after finally securing him for over £25million, fans expected a lot more.
Sadly, the talented full-back has only made two appearances, and in one of them, was booked just eight minutes into the clash against Manchester City.
Malick Fofana - 2/10
Much like Methalie, Malick Fofana arrived at the Stadium of Light with plenty of expectation, having been signed for over £30m.
Five games into his Black Cats career, though, and the star winger has yet to register a single goal contribution. For the money paid, he's been a huge letdown.
