Sunderland 'expecting' Brian Brobbey offers as Regis Le Bris stance revealed

Sunderland are expecting to receive offers for Brian Brobbey off the back of strong Premier League and World Cup campaigns.

The 24-year-old has attracted high-profile interest from clubs across Europe after he scored three goals in four appearances before the Netherlands' exit from the World Cup.

He has also established himself as a key member of Regis Le Bris' Sunderland side, and is regarded as an important part of their plans for the future.

Former Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Sunderland are now preparing to receive offers for Brobbey, but have no plans to let him go.

Instead, Le Bris hopes to keep hold of the striker as the club begin preparations for their participation in the Europa League after qualifying at the end of last season.

Keeping their best players at the club has become a priority for Sunderland this summer, and Brobbey is the latest on the list of players they do not plan to lose.

Could Sunderland receive offers for Brian Brobbey?

Brown first told Football Insider in March that Sunderland have no plans to let Brobbey leave and have placed a "huge" price tag on him to deter potential suitors.

Since his move to the Stadium of Light last summer, the striker has become a key player for Sunderland, and they are extremely reluctant to let him leave.

With three years remaining on his contract with the Black Cats, they are in a strong position to dictate his future, and he is now unlikely to leave this summer.

"Brian Brobbey is a player who has really impressed me since he came to Sunderland," Brown told Football Insider.

"They took a bit of a gamble on signing him from the Eredivisie, because strikers coming from that league can be very hit and miss in the Premier League.

"But they took a chance on him, that chance had paid off, and now other clubs are looking to capitalise on that and lure him away from Sunderland.

"Especially after his performances at the World Cup, where he really impressed, I'm told a few clubs are having a look at him and could try to make a move.

"From Sunderland's point of view, though, there's no way they're going to let him go because he's become such an important part of their squad.

"The manager isn't looking to lose any of his players, because they're in Europe next season and they know they're going to need a strong squad if they want to compete.

"So they're not going to be letting Brobbey go easily, they want to keep hold of him, and if any club wants to make a move it will have to be a very good one."

Sunderland 'doing everything' to block Granit Xhaka joining Chelsea despite 'agreement'

Which other exits will Sunderland plan to block?

Brobbey is not the only player who Sunderland are making efforts to keep at the Stadium of Light after what proved to be a successful season in the Premier League.

The Black Cats' qualification for the Europa League has inspired interest in a number of their best performers, with Chelsea's pursuit of Granit Xhaka the clearest example.

Brown told Football Insider on 2 July that Sunderland were doing everything in their power to prevent Xhaka joining Chelsea and had no plans to let him go.

Chelsea saw an opening offer of £8million dismissed out of hand, and it was soon made clear that any further offers would not be entertained.

Xhaka is now believed to be content to stay at the Stadium of Light, and Sunderland will continue with their ambitious plans to build around their star names.
