Regis Le Bris has let it be known to Sunderland he wants to be backed heavily in the January transfer window if his side are still in promotion contention, sources have told Football Insider.

The Black Cats currently sit top of the Championship ahead of heavy hitters like Leeds, Sheffield United and Burnley.

Le Bris and Sunderland have made a great start and are the second-tier's surprise package after nine games of the new season.
