Supercomputer predicts Champions League winner after Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City get round of 16 opponents

Arsenal are considered the favourites to win the Champions League after the round of 16 draw was made.

The Gunners are set to face Bayer Leverkusen in the next round, with the club being placed on the generous side of the draw.

If they are to progress, they will face either Bodo/Glimt or Sporting CP in the quarter-finals.

Now, Opta on 27 February has insisted that Arsenal are the comfortable favourites to win the competition at 27.4 per cent odds.

Arsenal are favourites to win the Champions League

For many, it will be little surprise that Arsenal are the favourites to finally win the trophy.

Mikel Arteta’s side comfortably won the league phase, being the only team to win all eight matches.

On top of this, they sit top of the Premier League, and are still in both domestic cup competitions.

Now, given their easier route to the final in comparison to the likes of Man City, Real Madrid and PSG, this has been depicted in the supercomputer’s predictions.

Arsenal are believed to have an 85.85 per cent chance of getting past Bayer Leverkusen and a 56.87 per cent chance of reaching the semi-finals.

For a first final appearance since 2006, the odds of this are extremely high at 43.06 per cent.

Who else could win the Champions League?

Following Arsenal, Bayern Munich are the second favourites to win the Champions League at 14.28 per cent.

The German giants finished second in the league phase, winning all but one of their matches.

This form has continued in the Bundesliga, with Bayern looking certain to lift the trophy for a second season in a row.

Liverpool then follows at 12.83 per cent. Despite their terrible Premier League form this season, the Reds have been solid in Europe, overcoming the likes of Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid in the league phase.

Man City and Barcelona are considered potential outsiders at 10.79 per cent and 7.72 per cent to lift the trophy.

PSG defending the Champions League is deemed unlikely, with Opta giving them a 4.64 per cent chance of this happening, with even Newcastle having higher odds at 4.66 per cent.

Real Madrid are also unlikely to add another Champions League to their collection at 2.78 per cent odds.
