Sutton '100 per cent' right about Celtic and 'Rangers fans will love it'- pundit
Chris Sutton is “100 per cent” right to claim Celtic fans should be satisfied with a second place finish this season, according to Paul Robinson.
However, the former Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Ange Postecoglou’s side must close the gap on Rangers this year.
The Gers won the title by 25 points in the 2020-21 campaign.
There has been wholesale changes at Celtic since, with Ange Postecoglou appointed manager and 11 new players arriving in the summer.
Writing in the Daily Record (11th October), Chris Sutton claimed “it would be daft” to expect Celtic to win the title this season.
The Hoops are currently sixth in the table after eight games.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Celtic’s expectations, Robinson said: “I’d have to agree with Sutton on that, 100 per cent.
“The aim of the game for Celtic this season is progression.
“They finished 25 points behind Rangers last season which is unacceptable. That gap needs to be closed significantly this season.
“You can see the work Postecoglou is doing. He has changed a lot of the personnel and already that team has an identity and a style play. He now needs to be given a couple of transfer windows.
“Yes, Celtic need to be winning the league. But, Postecoglou needs a little bit of time to rebuild them first.
“Realistically, progression is the main goal this year. I think they would accept second so long as they are a lot closer to Rangers than they were last year. I know Rangers fans will love hearing that.
“Things aren’t going to change overnight. Celtic have to be patient.”
