Sven Botman told to 'get involved' in Newcastle United talks after transfer twist - pundit
Sven Botman will have to get involved in negotiations if Lille are to accept Newcastle Untied’s latest offer.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ transfer struggles.
As reported by the Telegraph on Monday (13 June), Newcastle are set to issue an ultimatum to Lille after the Ligue 1 side raised their demands for Botman, 22.
The French side have reportedly changed their mind about accepting a £30million bid and are now demanding £36million.
The report claims Newcastle are ready to move on to other targets if Lille do not stop moving the goalposts.
Kenny claims Botman himself may now have to get involved.

“If Newcastle start doing this now, every club will do it to them,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“We know they will end up having to pay over the odds for players because of the amount of money they have.
“But to agree a deal with them and then, just because it’s Newcastle, add another £6million at the last minute, it’s poor form.
“This is when the player might have to get involved. If he is desperate to get out and get a move to Newcastle, he will have to say what is going on isn’t good enough.”
Botman made 32 appearances for Lille in all competitions during the 2021-22 season.
He also struggled with injuries to his groin and hamstring, causing him to miss 14 games across the campaign.
