Eric Dier: I did not like Tottenham 21-year-old when he signed

Eric Dier has admitted that he didn’t like Dele Alli very much when he first signed for Tottenham but has made it clear that it is now “history”.
Alli, 21, signed for Spurs in February 2015 from MK Dons and was immediately loan back to the League One side.
Dier, 23, had only been on the books at Spurs for one year before Alli became his team-mate and he has admitted in an interview with GQ Magazine that the midfielder, who is now one of his best friends, was very shy when he first signed which is perhaps why they didn’t get along straight away.
“I think he has made a big deal out of that,” said Dier when asked about Alli’s claim that he didn’t like him. “He was quite shy when he first came to the club and maybe that shyness was taken the wrong way. But that’s history now. He makes a bigger deal of it than it really was.”
Despite getting off to a rocky start with each other, the two England internationals have since shown great chemistry both on and off the pitch.

Dier added: “Dele can be charming when he wants to be. Over time we have become very good friends… but we got friendly quite quickly. I think it helped that we were playing together in midfield for the club at that time and we formed a bond on the pitch that carried on off the pitch. Football has a funny way of doing that sometimes.”
The duo will no doubt be hoping that Spurs can launch another shot at winning the Premier League title this term after finishing as runners-up to Chelsea last time out.
Alli, who is widely regarded as one of the most promising young players in the Premier League, will be pivotal to Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, but a change of scenery to Wembley may be a big hurdle to overcome for the north London side.
