Tottenham 23-year-old stand-in set to land new £12.5m deal - report

Tottenham are set to reward Ben Davies with a new four-year deal worth £12.5million, according to a report.
Davies, 23, has performed well in the absence of injured first-teamer Danny Rose, and Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be set to make him the next Tottenham star to sign a new contract.
The Sun claim that Tottenham have prepared an offer that will see Davies earn £60,000-a-week, and extend his stay at the club until the summer of 2021.
Pochettino is keen to tie down his best assets after yet another impressive season in the Premier League, with as many as seven first-team players having already signed new deals.
Davies would be joining elite company in Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Kyle Walker, Eric Dier and Jan Vertonghen, if he were to commit his long term future to White Hart Lane.

The Wales international had featured just seven times in the Premier League this season prior to Rose’s injury against Sunderland in January.
But he has since started their last seven matches in all competitions, winning four and keeping three clean sheets.
Football Insider verdict
Davies has impressed since taking over first-team duties for Tottenham, but once Rose returns to the line up, normal service will be resumed. That means, more restricted game time for the full-back. The combination of Rose and Walker for Tottenham is arguably the best full back combination in the Premier League, with their attacking capabilities causing numerous problems for sides in recent seasons. That makes it difficult for Davies to get a look in, and £12million a year will be a significant price to pay for a player that may not get regular action. Nevertheless, Pochettino has taken the perfect approach by ensuring his best stars do not leave the club in the summer.
