Celtic will hold fresh talks with Arsenal today over the transfer of Kieran Tierney, Football Insider has learned.

The Hoops will get their SPL campaign underway with a home fixture against St Johnstone at Parkhead, but that will not prevent further negotiations over the sale of their star left-back.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider the club have been given indications that Arsenal are ready to submit a new and improved bid for Tierney after completing the £72million purchase of Nicolas Pepe this week.

The Scottish giants have already held extensive talks over the transfer of the 22-year-old, and a third official bid of £25million is set to be tabled by the Londoners that those close to the situation believe will result in an agreement.

Arsenal's most recent offer for Tierney was rejected because there was not a high-enough initial payment and it included too many variables, including the Londoners qualifying for the Champions League.

As revealed by Football Insider, the Scotland international has already agreed personal terms in principle with Arsenal and the deal hinges upon the clubs agreeing the structure of the payments.

Celtic have stuck to their guns all window over the Tierney fee and will only let him go if they are happy with the price and payments schedule.

Tierney is looking to test himself at an elite Premier League club after winning 11 trophies, including three consecutive domestic trebles since breaking into the Hoops side aged 17.
