Tottenham have opened talks with Dele Alli over a new contract with the club, according to a report.
The Mirror claims that Spurs are likely to offer Alli, 21, an improved contract worth double what he is currently earning with a deal worth £100,000-a-week on the cards for the England international.
It is understood that Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid have become interested in Alli, however Tottenham are confident that the midfielder will agree terms to a new contract.
The report adds that although Spurs are yet to open formal talks, they have held informal discussions with the former MK Dons playmaker in a bid to make him one of the top earners with the club.
Alli has no doubt been a key player for Tottenham in the past few seasons.
This campaign, he has made 27 appearances across all competitions, scoring nine goals and supplying 10 assists in the process.
Football Insider verdict
Alli has not been in the best form this season, but like most of Tottenham’s players, not many are reaching the heights of last term. Mauricio Pochettino has assembled a brilliant squad in North London and once a few of them have become a bit more battle-hardened in the Premier League, there will no doubt be a real threat posed to the likes of the Manchester clubs and Chelsea to win a race for the title. Keeping Alli around is key to that. The England international, on his day, is one of the most exciting players around and can easily prove to be the difference in fighting for a league title or a Europa League spot.
