Talks underway: Rangers work on signing two strikers amid big Morelos update - Sources

Rangers will look to sign two new strikers amid the growing likelihood of Alfredo Morelos quitting this summer, Football Insider can reveal.

The Scottish giants are in the market for centre-forwards as they look to stop Celtic’s historic 10-in-a-row tilt and key developments in recent days mean big changes may be in store.

Ibrox source have told Football Insider that Rangers are braced for offers for Morelos amid signals of strong interest in their prize asset.

A top Premier League club is among those ready to bid for the Colombia international when the transfer window opens.

Rangers have long been prepared for the possibility of Morelos leaving this summer and are working on two striker profiles: a direct replacement for him and an impact forward who would be tasked with a broadly similar job to January loan arrival Florian Kamberi.

As revealed by Football Insider on Saturday, the Ibrox giants are ramping up their pursuit of Peterborough United hitman Ivan Toney.

Preliminary talks are underway to ascertain his interest in a move north of the border as he looks to quit the English League One outfit.

Toney, 24, has been identified as a top target on the back of sensational 26-goal campaign in which he scored nine more league goals than his nearest rival in a truncated season.

Rangers are looking at him as a potential direct replacement for main man Morelos.

The club are also in the market for another striker who can provide a different kind of cutting edge to veteran star Jermain Defoe.

Football Insider revealed earlier last week that Brentford have joined the race for Toney that also includes Celtic and West Brom.

Director of football Barry Fry revealed a £4m bid from New York Red Bulls has been turned down flat as he seeks a bidding war to secure a club-record sale.

In other Rangers news, it can be REVEALED that the club have agreed terms of new deal after West Ham offer rejected.
