West Ham in talks to seal last-ditch swoop for international striker, 10 goals in 13 - Sky Sports journalist
West Ham have opened negotiations with Russian Premier Liga club Krasnodar about signing striker Fedor Smolov before Wednesday’s transfer deadline, according to a reliable journalist.
Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solkehol claimed on his personal Twitter account on Monday morning that the Hammers have started up talks over making a last-ditch move for Smolov, 27, but have reached a disagreement over the terms of a deal.
It is understood that West Ham want to sign the 28-times Russia international on a loan deal with the option to buy, but Krasnodar are proving reluctant, and will only let the centre-forward leave on a permanent basis for £12million.

The report adds that Smolov is keen on a move to London.
The former Feyenoord and Dinamo Moscow forward has been in fine form for Kransodar this season, especially in the league where he has netted 10 goals in 13 appearances.
Last term he was very prolific, scoring 25 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions.
Football Insider verdict
Smolov has been in fine form for the past few seasons so it is only natural that the striker has started to attract attention from overseas. There are not many Russian national team players that play outside of their domestic leagues, and with a World Cup being hosted there in the summer, Krasnodar may be worth keeping hold of Smolov until then. The striker could make a real name for himself on the world’s biggest stage in the summer. Russia have been handed a relatively easy group of Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Uruguay, so netted three of four goals in them games could really see his value soar. West Ham should just pay up the £12million. It’s not a lot for someone who could be worth more in the future.
In other West Ham news, this French forward wanted by the Irons has completed a £9.6million switch.
