Kilmarnock left-back Greg Taylor has told the club he wants to sign for Celtic, Football Insider has learned.
Football Insider revealed earlier this week the Hoops have made an approach for the 21-year-old defender as they look to strengthen following Kieran Tierney’s £25million sale to Arsenal.
A Celtic source has told Football Insider that Taylor has made it clear to Kilmarnock he is keen to make the move to the Scottish champions before the window shuts this month.
There has been talk that Kilmarnock are holding out for £3million for Taylor, but Football Insider has been told that is not the case and an offer of £1million or just over may seal the deal.
Celtic are readying an offer as they look for a left-back who can compete with recent signing Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo and develop into a potential first-team regular of the future.
Taylor is highly rated after making his name at Kilmarnock, where he has graduated from the youth ranks to accumulate 131 appearances .
He has two years remaining on his contract with the Scottish Premiership outfit, but his desire to leave means a transfer could be agreed by the cut-off on 31 August.
Celtic have been given some encouragement about a possible deal by Kilmarnock strengthening their ranks with the arrival of full-back Niko Hamalainen on loan from QPR.
