'That's Massive' - Exclusive: Bent reacts to breaking Leeds news

Darren Bent has claimed Kalvin Phillips returning to training will give all Leeds United players a “big, big boost”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former England and Spurs striker hoped his return will stop the Whites conceding so many goals.

Football Insider revealed earlier this week Phillips is back in light training after recovering from a shoulder injury and is hoping to feature against Arsenal after the international break.

The 24-year-old has missed the Yorkshire giants’ last three games including their 4-1 defeats to Leicester City and Crystal Palace.

Asked by Football Insider what he made of Phillips returning to training, Bent said: “That’s massive. He’s one of their most important players, if not the most important.

“You can see how much they’ve missed him, the way he covers the midfield with that tenaciousness in the middle.

“He’s coming back now and that will be a big, big boost for everybody concerned.

“We’ve all been excited about Leeds coming in and the way they’re playing but they’re conceding way too many goals.

“They need to address that but having some of your best players back like him back can only help.

“There’s been a number of them like Mateusz Klich and Patrick Bamford that have stepped up and done well.

“Leeds’ problem at the minute is conceding goals because they’ve been conceded way too many recently.”

The Whites have the joint worst defensive record in the Premier League having conceded 17 goals in eight games.

Last season Marcelo Bielsa’s side only conceded 35 goals in 46 Championship games as they secured the title.
