Jack Harrison was the “biggest disappointment” for Leeds United in the loss against West Ham.

That is according to former Whites striker Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs about the 24-year-old’s uncharacteristic performance at Elland Road.

Harrison failed to register a single shot and completed just one cross as Marcelo Bielsa’s side were beaten 2-1 by the Hammers on Friday night. (WhoScored)

His display in the first 45 minutes saw him replaced by Helder Costa at half-time, the first time Bielsa has hooked the winger at the interval this season.

Whelan insisted the attacker on loan from Manchester City has now struggled in back-to-back games.

“Jack Harrison was poor,” he told Football Insider. “I was expecting a lot more from him on Friday.

“That is now two games where he has not been at it. When he is not at his best you really notice the difference.

“It was not clicking at all for him. He struggled against Coufal.

“We know what he has got in his locker, he has such ability and showed great form at the beginning of the season so that is why we are critical of him.

“He is a big player for us when he is at his best. He makes the difference but when he is off you can see weakness on the left-hand side.

“His crosses against West Ham were poor and he was the biggest disappointment for me on Friday.”
