'There's no hiding...It's totally unacceptable' - Exclusive: Ex-defender slaughters Spurs star
Alex Bruce has torn into Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele after his “unacceptable” performance against Burnley last weekend.
The former Premier League defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has backed Spurs manager Jose Mourinho for tearing into the 23-year-old, insists the “penny’s got to drop”.
The Portuguese boss singled out the France international for criticism after the club’s 1-1 draw with the Clarets, insisting he “cannot keep giving him opportunities to play” if he continues to underperform.
Bruce echoed the manager’s thoughts, insisting his display was a long way off what should be expected from a top-flight talent.
Bruce told Football Insider: “I think Ndombele, the penny’s got to drop with him. They paid an awful lot of money Spurs.
“I think you’ve seen him at Burnley last week, the way he played, it was highlighted parts of his performance, it’s totally unacceptable for a Premier League player.

“To walk around like he did without the ball and to only come alive when you’ve got the ball, I think you need to do more and when you’ve got a manager like manager like Mourinho who notices everything, there’s no hiding place.”
Ndombele came under fire from Mourinho for his fitness levels earlier in the season, having struggled with a number of niggles since moving to England.
The former Lyon star has played 27 time for Spurs so far, with two goals and four assists under his belt.
In other Tottenham news, it can be revealed Mourinho has told friends one player will never feature for the club again.
