Thierry Henry cited as 'huge' Arsenal footage emerges - expert

Gabriel Jesus will follow Ian Wright and Thierry Henry in the lineage of great Arsenal strikers, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker claimed Jesus will “guarantee” Arsenal at least 15 Premier League goals in 2022-23 after watching him in pre-season.

The 25-year-old scored a hat-trick on his home debut as the Gunners beat La Liga side Sevilla 6-0 in a friendly on Saturday (30 July).

He moved to the Emirates from Man City for a £45million fee earlier this summer to work under Mikel Arteta again.

The pair enjoyed success when Arteta served as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at City.

“I don’t really count pre-season because everyone is at different stages of fitness, the players you play against might not be as fit as you,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“But what you can tell from pre-season is that he is going to fit into the Arsenal way.

“He’s going to get so many chances, chances that [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, [Alexandre] Lacezette, [Eddie] Nketiah and [Folarin] Balogun were all missing, he will put away.

“He will get at least 15 Premier League goals, guaranteed. That’s huge and what Arsenal have been missing.

“Over the years they’ve had Ian Wright, Thierry Henry now this is the next one for Arsenal.

“I’m sure he’ll be on penalties, he’ll be on everything, he’ll be the talisman.”

Jesus scored 95 times in 233 appearances across all competitions for Man City but never nailed down a regular starting position.

The Brazil international has signed a five-year contract with Arsenal.
