Thomas Frank's £10million release clause will not be a major sticking point for Tottenham as they intensify plans to finalise the deal, sources have told Football Insider.

Spurs are stepping up their pursuit of the Dane following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou last week.

It is believed negotiations over Frank's appointment are advanced and a full agreement is expected to be struck in due course.

Tottenham chiefs are desperate to for negotiations to reach a swift conclusion and the 51-year-old is also showing a willingness to become the club's next boss.

Tottenham ready to clear Frank hurdle and pay £10m fee

Brentford have Frank under contract until June 2027 and inserted a £10million compensation clause into his last deal - but the Spurs hierarchy are confident he is the man and will be worth that outlay.

The north London side will play Champions League football in the 2025-26 campaign after Postecoglou led them to Europa League glory last month.

Nevertheless, he was relieved of his duties at Spurs and Frank is now set to become the club's fifth permanent boss since Mauricio Pochettino left in 2019.

The former Brondby boss was appointed manager at Brentford in 2018, having previously been assistant to Dean Smith.

He led the Bees to promotion via the play-offs in the 2020-21 campaign and has established the west London outfit as a Premier League club.

Brentford (10th) finished seven places and 18 points above Tottenham (17th) last term despite a massive discrepancy in talent and budget between the clubs.

Tel to become Frank's first Tottenham signing?

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed last week (3 June) that Tottenham are preparing to return to the negotiating table with Bayern Munich in a bid to agree a cut-price permanent deal for Mathys Tel.

There is a willingness at Spurs to sign Tel, 20, despite his mixed loan with the club in the second half of the 2024-25 campaign.

The young French forward could become Frank's first signing at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
