Three centre-backs Leeds should target if the unthinkable happens

Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson have proven to be key factors in Leeds fighting for promotion to the Premier League this season.
The centre-back duo both arrived at Elland Road last summer on loan deals from English top flight side Swansea and Italian outfit Torino respectively.
Sweden international Jansson is set to sign on a permanent basis with the club at the end of this campaign, but there is no news yet on Bartley’s future.
Football Insider takes a look at the three players the Whites could target if the unthinkable happens and Bartley leaves, regardless of what division they are in.
Grant Hanley – The Newcastle backup defender has not played much since arriving at St James’ Park last summer. That reduced game time is likely to decrease even further if Rafa Benitez’ side make their expected return to the Premier League. Leeds should pounce on adding the experienced defender to their squad because he is the typical hard-hitting player they require.

James Collins – Currently playing for Premier League outfit, West Ham, Collins has vasts amounts of experience under his belt. Perhaps not the first choice amongst the fans, but Collins would still add steel to the defensive line and be a great help to the youngsters. With the addition of Jose Fonte to the London Stadium, the Welshman has fallen down the pecking order which could see him leave the club in the summer.
Phil Jagielka – The former England international would definitely be worth a punt because of the quality and experience he can still provide. He may not have it in his locker to produce the goods, week in, week out, for an Everton side chasing Europe, but regardless of where the Whites are, he would do the job for them. You could even argue that he would be a better option than either Bartley or fan favourite Jansson. Just like Collins, the Englishmen’s game time has also been reduced under Ronald Koeman.
