Three Leeds United players are set to undergo late fitness tests ahead of this afternoon’s Championship clash against QPR, Football Insider understands.
Striker Patrick Bamford, and left-back duo Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas are all major doubts for the Elland Road fixture.
A Leeds source has told Football Insider the trio will been put through their paces by Marcelo Bielsa and his backroom staff before the manager decides on his starting XI.
The Argentine often names his side the day before fixtures, and sometimes even 48 hours before, but injury issues have clouded today’s selection.
Bamford injured his ankle in Leeds’ last match against Sheffield Wednesday, when he was forced off at half-time.
Alioski and Douglas have also picked up injury problems over the past week, which leaves Bielsa potentially without either of his first choice left-backs.
Stuart Dallas, who has been used in midfield in recent games, is set to step in at left-back if both Alioski and Douglas miss out.
Should Bamford, who has started all 14 of Leeds’ Championship matches this season, been unable to start then Eddie Nketiah will replace him up front.
There have been growing calls from supporters and pundits for Arsenal loanee Nketiah to come in for Bamford, who has not scored for nine games.
The England Under-21 international is Leeds’ top scorer this season with five goals even though he is yet to start a Championship game.
In other Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED that Bielsa is preparing to make a major change of heart over one Elland Road player.
