As Liverpool look to strengthen their squad this summer many fans have called for Jurgen Klopp to sign Leicester City winger Demarai Gray.
The Reds have been installed favourites to sign the England-Under 21 International and here are three reasons why Klopp should put him at the top of his list for the summer window.
He is quick and direct
Two words often associated with Sadio Mane – Liverpool’s top performer this summer. So if Gray’s two top attributes are similar to Mane’s there is no reason why the former Birmingham man could not be a success at Anfield. Also as Jurgen Klopp has seen in Mane’s absence, the Reds do not have another player like him, and for that reason Gray could be the perfect fit – not only as a back-up option for Mane, but to play alongside him.
He has time on his side
Gray is only 20-years-old and he is a huge talent. We have seen this season that Klopp likes bringing through young players into the senior team, so if Gray did make the move he would be guaranteed minutes. Also Klopp is known for nurturing his young talent, rather than hanging them out to dry in public like a certain Jose Mourinho. Because of Gray’s age, if he did not find form immediately it would not be a huge disaster, as there is plenty of time for him to settle and find his feet.
He is adaptable
Gray can be deployed anywhere across the front line. This season he has mainly featured as a left winger, but he can also play on the right, in behind a striker or even as an out-and-out forward. This adaptability would be key to him finding success at Anfield because of the fluid system Klopp employs up top, with the front three being almost interchangeable at times.
In other Liverpool transfer news, Klopp is convinced that this £10million wonderkid has what it takes to thrive at Liverpool.
