24-y/o must be ousted for rest of season: Three things learned about Liverpool from win v Roma
COMMENT By Richard Parks
Liverpool have one tentative foot in the Champions League final but there is still work to do after an extraordinary opening leg against Roma at Anfield on Tuesday night.
The Merseysiders blitzed the Italian visitors with a sensational attacking display to go 5-0 ahead through doubles from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, and a Sadio Mane goal.
But Jurgen Klopp’s side took the foot off the pedal, ran out of gas late out and failed to do a proper demolition job on the shellshocked visitors.
Two goals in the last 10 minutes for Roma has given them a glimmer of hope going into the second leg in the Italian capital on Wednesday of next week.
It should prove another compelling evening during what has been a sensational Champions League campaign for Klopp’s side.
