Tim Sherwood delivers damning verdict on Tottenham when comparing them to rivals

By Amir Mir

Tim Sherwood has stated that Tottenham can look pretty on the eye but their Premier League title rivals Chelsea have been the “more clinical” this season.

The former Aston Villa manager made special reference to Spurs’ 4-2 defeat against their London neighbours at the weekend which saw them get knocked out of the FA Cup.

During that match, Belgium wing wizard Eden Hazard came off the bench to inspire his team to victory, with the scores level when he came on the pitch.

Since then, Antonio Conte’s team have extended their lead at the top of the table to seven points after they beat Southampton 4-2 on Tuesday night.

Sherwood, who managed the club for a brief period of time, provided this damning verdict as to why Chelsea have been the better team this term.

“Tottenham had all the possession, all the play, all the movement, all the rotation, it all looked pretty to the eye, but the most clinical team is Chelsea and that is what has been happening all season,” Sherwood told beIN SPORT as posted by a Football YouTube channel.

“Lesser teams than Tottenham have had more possession than Chelsea, so we cannot get carried away with possession, you have to get carried away with how many chances and how many they take.”

Tottenham will have the chance to prove their doubters wrong when they take on Crystal Palace on Wednesday night at Selhurst Park.

The likes of Harry Kane and Dele Alli, who have been pivotal to their goalscoring form this term, will be key to Spurs picking up three points away from home.

A win against Sam Allardyce’s team will see them close the gap on Chelsea, who travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton on Sunday.

Furthermore, their London neighbours will then host rivals Arsenal after Chelsea’s match at the weekend is concluded.
