Titi Camara claims reported £70m-rated midfielder is eager for Liverpool move

By Danny Wright

Former Liverpool midfielder Titi Camara has claimed that Naby Keita “has his heart set” on moving to Anfield this summer.

The Mirror has previously reported that Jurgen Klopp has made the RB Leipzig midfielder his top transfer target and could be ready to smash Liverpool’s transfer record for the second time this summer as Keita is currently valued at £70million.

The 22-year-old was one of the key players in helping Leipzig qualify for the Champions League last season, scoring eight goals and supplying eight assists in 31 Bundesliga appearances.

Keita has 18 senior international caps for Guinea, and former manager of that national team Camara insists that a deal is imminent due to Leipzig’s transfer activity.

“From what I’m led to believe Naby has his heart set on Liverpool move. Leipzig have been informed of his intent and are looking for replacement,” said Camara on his personal Twitter account on Monday morning.

Camara only spent one year as a player for Liverpool but earned the status as a cult hero after scoring the winning goal against West Ham in 1999 just hours after learning about the death of his father.

After a short spell at Anfield he signed for the Hammers before retiring from the game in 2006 after a spell with French outfit Amiens.

Football Insider Verdict

Camara might have the inside scoop on what is going on in Guinean football due to his wealth of caps playing for the national side and his short spell as manager for them. Keita would definitely make a good addition to Klopp’s midfield ahead of next season but the German boss needs to make a lot more progress in trying to snap up a new centre-back and left-back. Liverpool already has a great attack and midfield so they should be of lower concern. The Reds’ defence is poor and the goalkeeping position could also be improved upon due to Simon Mignlet and Loris Karius’ stuttering form.
