Rangers legend Stuart McCall has said that his former side can catch celtic in the race for the Premiership title, on one proviso.

With the gap at just six points at the top of the table, Celtic's next league game could well be the Old Firm game on March 11, and if Rangers win that they'll be just three points behind their bitter rivals.

And McCall believes that would be "game on" with some huge games to play before the end of the season.

"If it goes to the split and there’s three points between the teams, it’s very interesting," McCall said in the Scottish Sun.

“We’ll see what happens in the next Old Firm game. If Rangers win that and narrow the gap to three points it’s game on.

“If they don’t, it’s back to nine and the excitement goes a bit.

“It would be good for everyone in Scottish football to have a title race. We’d all like to be talking about some kind of challenge."
