Chelsea owner and chairman Todd Boehly is earning a huge salary at Stamford Bridge.

Todd Boehly is being paid an astonishing sum of around £15-20million-a-year to run Chelsea on behalf of Clearlake Capital, sources have told Football Insider.

The American businessman has an estimated personal wealth of £4.75billion and has been the frontman of the London giants since the takeover nearly two years ago.

The Blues are owned by consortium BlueCo, which is led by Boehly and private equity firm Clearlake Capital, who are paying his mega-money salary.

They bought the club in May 2022 for a reported £2.5billion from long-term owner Roman Abramovich, who sold the club following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Boehly is the chairman of Chelsea and heads the board, consisting of nine directors including Clearlake co-founder Behdad Eghbali, businessman Mark Walter and Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss.

The consortium reportedly bought a 50 per cent stake in the club, with Boehly owning a significant majority of their shares.

Sources have said Boehly's personal stake is believed to be around the 10 per cent mark.

Boehly's salary is not only more than any Chelsea player is paid by the club, but compares favourably to the top stars in the Premier League.

Liverpool are believed to pay Mohamed Salah around £350,000-a-week, less than the Blues chief.

Chelsea have spent over £1billion on player recruitment since Boelhy came into the club, including record fees in the Premier League for duo Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.

However, their transfer spend has not translated to on-pitch success with the Blues finishing 12th in Boehly's first full season at the club - the first time they failed to qualify for European competition since finishing 10th in 2015-16.

Chelsea now sit 11th in the Premier League table and most recently advanced to the fifth round of the FA Cup after their 3-1 victory against Aston Villa on Wednesday (7 February).
