Aston Villa senior man Tony Xia has been left heartbroken as star striker Jonathan Kodjia could be out for the remainder of the season.

The outspoken Villa owner took to his personal Twitter account following the 3-1 defeat to Fulham on Monday, to deliver his verdict on the red card handed to Kodjia in the first half.

Aston Villa’s 19-goal striker was punished for an alleged kick on Fulham defender Ryan Fredericks in the 22nd-minute, and was given his marching orders by referee David Coote.

The dismissal means the 27-year-old is set to miss Aston Villa’s last three games of the Championship season, where they will go up against Birmingham, Blackburn and Brighton, unless the club appeal the decision.

But Xia was left particularly heartbroken at the dismissal having seen his one remaining wish for the season all but fail to come true.

Xia had revealed on Twitter on Friday morning that he had hoped Kodjia and Scott Hogan would each score and register an assist in a single game before the end of the season.

However, with Kodjia set to spent the rest of the season on the sidelines, Xia’s wish looks as though it won’t be coming true.

The defeat, a first for Aston Villa in five league games, leaves the Midlands club in 12th place in the Championship table.
