Celtic fans on social media have reacted angrily after Brendan Rodgers missed out on being named manager of the year.

Despite being one game away from clinching an unprecedented second successive domestic treble, it was decided that Rodgers would be overlooked for the award, which was won by St Mirren boss Jack Ross.

The award winner was announced on the PFA Scotland Twitter account on Sunday night.

Ross, who won promotion to the Scottish Premiership with St Mirren, overcame Rodgers, Hibernian boss Neil Lennon and Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke to win the prestigious award.

Hoops fans were not happy with the snub given to Rodgers though, with one describing the decision as a ‘total farce’.

Whilst Rodgers may not have won his individual award, the Hoops did triumph at the ceremony, as Scott Brown was named player of the year nine years after winning the award for the first time.

Kieran Tierney also triumphed, being named young player of the year for the third season in a row and also winning goal of the season for his long-range strike against Kilmarnock.

The Hoops of course clinched the title on Sunday with an emphatic 5-0 win over bitter rivals Rangers as Rodgers added yet more silverware to his collection.
