Tottenham playmaker Dele Alli has been handed a three-match ban by UEFA for his red card dismissal against Gent, according to a report.
BBC Sport report that Alli has been banned for three games after an incident against Belgian side Gent.
The 20-year-old will now miss three European games and that could have a significant impact on the club’s European campaign next season, which looks set to be in the Champions League.
Alli was shown a straight card in February during a Europa League after a dangerous challenge on Brecht Dejaegere, which ultimately ended up giving the north London club a slim chance of progressing to their next round.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered heartache in Europe this season, being dumped out of both the Europa League and Champions League.
They are still a long way from competing on the European stage, but are showing that they have made improvements domestically.
Spurs are current second in the Premier League table and look in a great position to secure a Champions League spot for next season, which Alli will now unfortunately play a limited role in.
The England international has been a pivotal part of the club’s success this season, but showed the rash side of his game with the lunging challenge against Gent.
He has been influential this season in his 39 appearances, scoring 17 goals and supplying eight assists in return.
In other Tottenham team news, the club have moved a giant step closer to securing a landmark deal.
