Tottenham have agreed for Real Madrid to have a Sergio Reguilon buy-back clause worth £37million, Football Insider understands.
The left-back, 23, is poised to be unveiled as a Spurs player after arriving with Gareth Bale at the club’s Enfield training headquarters yesterday.
He underwent a medical in his native Spain on Thursday after Tottenham had a bid of £28m including add-ons accepted by Real.
A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Real have insisted upon a buy-back clause in the deal.
It gives them first option to re-sign Reguilon for a fee of £37m in the summer of 2022.
The move by Real demonstrates the esteem in which they hold the left-back, who has been capped by Spain.
Reguilon has also been a target for Man United but the Londoners have won the race to sign the proven left-back.
Jose Mourinho has given the green light for Danny Rose to leave Tottenham permanently but has wanted cover and competition for first choice Ben Davies.
The 2019 signing Ryan Sessegnon can also play at left-back but Spurs will now listen to loan offers for him.
Reguilon is an orthodox full-back who has come through the ranks at Real to establish himself at first-team level as well as progress into the Spain national side.
He has made a relatively meagre 23 appearances for Real but made a huge impression while on loan at Sevilla last season.
He was a mainstay of the side that won the Europa League and made 29 league starts among 38 appearances in all competitions.
In other news, Tottenham have accepted a 7-figure bid for international ace.
