Tottenham fans have been shaken by the news that Toby Alderweireld looks set to miss the game with Arsenal on Sunday, and have taken to Twitter to vent.
Early reports had said that both Harry Kane and Alderweireld might even be back for the Champions League game against Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday, but the latest news appears to rule out the defender for at least the next two games.
The news will come as a huge blow to Spurs, who boast the best defensive record in the Premier League with just five goals conceded.
Alderweireld has played a big part in this, playing the full 90 minutes in all of Tottenham’s Premier League games up to his knee injury against West Brom in a 1-1 draw.
Tottenham fans are aware of how big a blow the loss is – here are a selection of their Tweets:
Hope all this Alderweireld reports saying he won't be fit for arsenal is bullshit🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 #COYS

We died as an attacking force when Alderweireld got injured. He does a similar role to Bonucci for us. Opens the pitch up. https://t.co/SvX8QQxSVb

Thinks Spurs will lose at least once this week. We just aren't good enough without Kane and Alderweireld.

Arsenal fans, by contrast, are elated with the news, and one had a message for his Spurs counterparts ahead of the derby clash.
Alderweireld a doubt for the NLD.
Eric Dier trying to defend against Alexis Sanchez
