Tottenham very keen to sign 14-goal central midfielder ripping up league – reports

North London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal must battle it out in their attempts to sign goalscoring Lyon midfielder Corentin Tolisso, according to a report.
French sports newspaper L’Equipe claim in their 20 April edition that the two clubs are among those targeting the 22-year-old for a summer signing, although they are behind favourites Juventus to steal his signature.
The central midfielder has enjoyed a profitable season so far, which has seen him score a remarkable 14 goals and contribute six assists from 42 matches in all competitions.
He has been outstanding in Ligue 1 this season, netting eight times in 28 fixtures, to make Europe’s leading clubs sit up and take notice.
The 22-year-old also made his international debut for France in March, playing 80 minutes in their 2-0 defeat at home to Spain, as he looks to cement his place in Didier Deschamps squad ahead of next year’s World Cup.

He has previously spoken of his desire to play in the Premier League, telling France Football back in October: “I like the Premier League and I think I have the profile.
“It is the Championship that also offers the most competition, which is the most open.”
Tolisso also spoke about which clubs could tempt him to move from Lyon, and the news will be music to Arsene Wenger’s ears.
“Many clubs make me dream like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or England with teams like Arsenal,” he told France Football.
However, the midfielder will not come cheap, with L’Equipe claiming an asking price of £37m.
Football Insider verdict:
Both Tottenham and Arsenal fans will be hoping to get one over their rivals with the signing of Corentin Tolisso. A very talented midfielder, he would improve either midfield with his vision and creativity. However, do not take that as a sign he is not willing to get stuck in. He offers a lot of energy in the middle of the park, and this stamina means he has only been substituted four times this season. Who would he come in for in either side? Well, he would offer competition for Aaron Ramsey at Arsenal, whilst Granit Xhaka may also fear for his place. As for Tottenham, Moussa Dembele would be the obvious man to replace, with Tolisso seven years younger than the Belgium international.
