Tottenham braced as bitter rivals line up bid for £65,000-a-week key player - report
By Danny Wright
Tottenham are bracing themselves for a bid from Chelsea for left-back Danny Rose, according to a report.
The Sun claims that Spurs’ bitter London rivals are readying an offer of £40million for the 27-year-old as Antonio Conte looks to make considerable additions to his squad before the transfer window slams shut.
It is understood that Chelsea have turned their attention to Tottenham’s Rose after they realised they would have to splash £60million in order to prise Alex Sandro away from Juventus.
The report adds that Southampton star Ryan Bertrand is Conte’s back-up option if he doesn’t manage to bag Rose, who could more than double his £65,000-a-week pay packet with a move to Stamford Bridge.
However the Sun reports that Spurs are “adamant” that they won’t be selling any more key players like Rose after Kyle Walker was sold to Manchester City in a deal worth £50million.

Rose has been sidelined with injury since January and after undergoing surgery in May, he is expected to return to action within the next few weeks.
The England international scored two goals and supplied four assists in 21 appearances across all competitions last term.
Football Insider Verdict
However much Chelsea bid for Rose, Tottenham need to rebuff everything that comes their way. Although Ben Davies is a more than capable starting left-back for Mauricio Pochettino, Spurs need to send out a clear message to their rivals and tell them that their promising squad will not be torn apart by money. The north London side have come a long way in the past few seasons and chairman Daniel Levy cannot sit by and watch his best players turning out for his Premier League title rivals. Spurs need to start signing some players before they are forced into panic-buying later this month. Having sold Walker, they probably don’t need the money as much if a bid comes in for Rose, but they should still try to reinvest their earnings back into the squad.
In other Tottenham news, two more high-profile clubs have entered the race for Rose.
