Michael Brown insists that Tottenham winger Ryan Sessegnon will have had his head turned by reports linking him with a move to Barcelona.
The former Spurs midfielder, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, has lauded the “wonderful” left-footer and claims that uncertainty at the North London side has limited his opportunities so far.
Sky Sports report that Barcelona have inquired about the availability of the 20-year-old after long-term interest stretching back to his time at Fulham.
The versatile left-sided flyer joined Spurs last summer for reported £25million but has struggled for game time.
After a frustrating first year with the Lilywhites, Brown insists there is no way the young star would have been able to ignore the link to the Catalan giants.
Brown told Football Insider: “Well, it’s a great story, you say Sessegnon to Barcelona, turn his head is an understatement, that’s what I will say. He’s just with the physio now turning his neck back where he jarred it!
“He’s a wonderful talent, he’s played a ruck of games already so it’s not as if he hasn’t had that experience playing. He’s just at a Spurs side that have had a bit of uncertainty, the changes and things we’ve seen.”
Sessegnon, who can feature as a left-winger or a left-back, has played just 12 times for Spurs across all competitions this season.
His last Premier League appearance came back in January and he has been left as an unused substitute for Spurs’ last four games.
In other Tottenham news, Mourinho has been tipped to turn a struggling talent into a world-beater next season.
