Callum Wilson could develop into an even more deadly striker at Tottenham if he were to link up with “unbelievable” Harry Kane, according to Michael Brown.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Spurs midfielder delivered his verdict as Wilson looks set to leave relegated Bournemouth.
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has personally contacted the 28-year-old in an attempt to secure his services, as revealed by Football Insider.
Wilson is said to be open to the prospect of playing second fiddle at Spurs to his international teammate Harry Kane.
Asked by Football Insider whether a move to North London could boost the striker’s international prospects, Brown said: “Like any player, it is important to play football.
“I do harp on about the importance of playing week in week out. At Spurs getting minutes there will certainly help his international prospects. If he’s in that squad and getting minutes.
“Anybody that plays with Harry Kane, an unbelievable striker, you’d start to learn how to finish, how to be deadly.
“The better players around you, he’ll have had it with international football, but daily around that Spurs side that have got quality, I think that could only help you.”
Wilson was named in England’s last squad in November 2019 but he didn’t feature in the three lions’ games against Montenegro and Kosovo.
He has played four times for England with his only goal coming on his debut against the USA.
His place in the Gareth Southgate’s squad was under threat after the re-emergance of Danny Ings.
The Southampton forward scored 22 Premier League goals last season.
Wilson scored eight league goals for the Cherries as they suffered relegation last season.
In total, the former Coventry forward has netted 41 times from 128 Premier League matches.
