Tottenham could have next Virgil van Dijk in their ranks amid 'unbelievable' verdict - expert
Tottenham may have the next Virgil van Dijk in their ranks in Cristian Romero, according to Paul Robinson.
The former White Hart Lane number one, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, heaped praise on the “unbelievable” 23-year-old who is “only going to get better and better.”
Romero starred for Antonio Conte’s side in a 5-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday.
The Argentina international has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet in north London since his arrival in August 2021.
Robinson believes the centre-half is on the path to becoming the next Virgil van Dijk or Ruben Dias.
“I have been banging his drum all season,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“He is a top-class centre-half. I think he’s unbelievable.
“The way he has taken to the Premier League is outstanding. He is a leader, a warrior and he’s only going to get better and better. He has grown in his role at Spurs. You can see that he is a leader on and off the field. He is respected by his teammates.
“I think he’s the kind of player Spurs and Conte need. To have that much quality at his age… It was a great signing. He can go on to be better than he is which is frightening to think.
“He could potentially be in the same bracket as Dias and Virgil van Dijk. Not yet but he could in a few years. He is on that path.”
