Kieran Trippier is set to be offered a new contract by Tottenham after impressing with his development, according to a report.

ESPN FC report on their website that sources close to the club claim that Spurs are prepared to improve Trippier’s current deal, which expires in 2020.

The 26-year-old full-back has been at White Hart Lane since joining from Burnley in a £3.5m deal, as reported by the Daily Mail, back in 2015.

However, Trippier has found first team opportunities hard to come by thanks to the form of England international Kyle Walker.

Mauricio Pochettino showed faith in the defender by starting him in Sunday’s North London derby against rivals Arsenal, and he repaid this with a solid performance on the way to Spurs’ 2-0 win.

He also started in the 4-2 defeat to Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final, and has seemingly done enough to convince his boss to tie him down to the club.

This season the former Burnley man has made just four Premier League starts, and there has been speculation over a potential move to Everton, as reported by the Sun.

However, it seems that the Tottenham boss views the 26-year-old as an important part of his squad, and is determined to stave off any potential suitors with this new deal.
