Tottenham in three-way battle to sign 21-year-old Championship ace - report

Tottenham are ready to rival Everton and Southampton for Norwich City starlet Jacob Murphy, according to a report.
ESPN FC claim that the young Norwich star is high on the agenda of all three Premier League sides, despite signing a new four-year deal last month at Carrow Road.
The 21-year-old’s breakthrough into the Canaries’ first team this season has not gone unnoticed by the Premier League trio, with Mauricio Pochettino looking to beat his rivals to the signature of Murphy.
Murphy is Norwich’s top scorer under Alex Neil this season, scoring seven goals in 19 league and cup encounters.
However, Murphy has failed to prevent Norwich’s dismal run of form that has seen them go from eyeing an instant return to the Premier League to outside the playoffs.

Tottenham brought in Moussa Sissoko in the summer from Norwich’s Championship rivals Newcastle, but has struggled since his move and Pochettino could look to bring in more reinforcements.
Spurs may face battle on their hands, with former Canary Nathan Redmond starring at Southampton. Murphy may follow suit to the South Coast in order to emulate the form of his former teammate.
Everton could also look to sign Murphy, after he starred against the Toffees in the EFL Cup by scoring a superb long-range effort. The loss of Yannick Bolasie could tempt Koeman into signing Norwich’s number 22.
Football Insider verdict:
One of the brightest properties outside of the Premier League, speed merchant Murphy would prove a top signing if he was to move to any of the three sides. His ability to glide past defenders with incredible ease is something that stands him out from his rivals, despite his tender age. However, with the likes of Sissoko, Heung-Min Son, Georges N’Koudou and Erik Lamela already on the flanks at White Hart Lane, Murphy would have his work cut out in attempting to secure a first-team place in Pochettino’s side. Norwich could price Murphy’s pursuers out of a deal though, after he recent signed a new contract.
