Tottenham expected 3-4-3 v Huddersfield: 25-year-old returns from spell on sidelines
By Danny Wright
Tottenham are expected to make three changes to their starting line-up for Saturday’s clash with Huddersfield as they return to Premier League action.
Christian Eriksen is poised to be on the list of returning names after he has recovered from an illness which saw him sidelined for the Champions League win against APOEL Nicosia on Tuesday night.
As well as the 25-year-old Dane, Dele Alli and Jan Vertonghen are expected to return to Mauricio Pochettino’s side for their first ever visit to the John Smith’s Stadium after serving suspensions in Europe.
Serge Aurier is banned after a red card against West Ham last week while Harry Winks and Heung-min Son could lose their spots in the starting line-up after playing in the 3-0 victory in Cyprus in midweek.
Hugo Lloris is expected to keep his place in goals behind a back three of Davinson Sanchez, Toby Alderweireld and Vertonghen as Pochettino is likely to deploy his favoured 3-4-3 formation.

Ben Davies and Kieran Trippier could take up roles in the wing-back positions with Eric Dier and the resurgent Moussa Sissoko in the centre of midfield.
The returning figures of Alli and Eriksen are expected to play in the attack behind the talismanic Harry Kane, who will no doubt be looking to continue his scoring streak against Huddersfield this weekend after netting a hat-trick against APOEL.
Spurs have rectified a stuttering start to their Premier League campaign in recent weeks and currently sit fourth in the table behind Manchester City, Manchester United and last season’s champions Chelsea.
They can leapfrog Antonio Conte’s side this weekend if results go their way but would still be some way off the two Manchester sides, who are five points clear of Tottenham at the summit of the standings.
