Tottenham expert: Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou to sign deal soon - 'he will be there'

Alan Hutton has no doubts Ange Postecoglou will sign a new contract at Celtic at the end of the season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Rangers right-back said other clubs will be “monitoring” Postecoglou’s contract situation but insisted he will spend the “next few seasons” at Parkhead.

On 25 March, sources told this site that the Hoops want to tie down the 57-year-old to a new and improved long-term deal after he was shortlisted by Tottenham.

The Australian has also been on the radar of Brighton, Leeds United, Wolves and Everton this season throughout their searches for a new boss.

Postecoglou has been included on a long list of Spurs targets to succeed Antonio Conte at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Celtic boss is still on a 12-month rolling contract he signed when he joined the club in June 2021 but source’s have told Football Insider that the club are willing to increase his wages and a preparing a “huge” contract offer.

When asked if there was any reason Postecoglou would be holding back on signing a new deal, Hutton told Football Insider:He probably just wants to concentrate on this season.

Nothing is going to happen from now until the end of the season, nothing is going to change with his contract and his position.

He has done so well since he has come to the club. He has won things, the team is in a good place.

“They are going for a treble at the end of the day. He will want to solely focus on that and not have outside noise affect that.

I do not see him going, he has definitely built something and I think he will be there for the next few seasons. I’m led to believe will want to be back in the Champions League, he will want to win more trophies, he will sign soon.

Everyone around knows what he is capable of and will obviously be monitoring as it moves forward but he is in a strong position at the moment.
