Tottenham expert issues brutal Nicolo Zaniolo verdict as seventh signing of the cards
Tottenham should not make a move to sign Roma attacker Nicolo Zaniolo due to his poor injury record.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
According to the Guardian (20 July), Spurs are interested in making Zaniolo, 23, their seventh signing of the summer.
Speculation increased in the days before Spurs’ pre-season game against Zaniolo’s Roma on 30 July.
However, Wenham is completely against the potential move and claims Spurs should attempt to sign Leicester’s James Maddison instead.
“I wouldn’t touch him with a barge pole,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He is very good but he has had to cruciate ligament injuries that have ruled him out for entire seasons and he is only 23.
“To me, that’s a concern. Someone who has had two serious injuries, not just once, the same injury twice and it has ruled him out for whole seasons.
“He is obviously a phenomenally talented player. He came onto the scene at Roma very young, he has a nice posture to him, he looks the part.
“He carries the ball nicely and can score goals. He burst onto the scene as an 18-year-old in the Champions League scoring against Barcelona and I thought’ phwoar, this geezer looks the part’.
“He has constant, really bad injuries and for me, you don’t pay £40million or £50million for someone with that risk.
“I would rather we went for someone like James Maddison based purely on Zaniolo’s injury record.,”
