Tottenham expert shares 'big' Eric Dier verdict after what he's seen in person - 'hate to see it'

Tottenham star Eric Dier may have lost his place in England’s World Cup squad after his performance against Liverpool on Sunday (6 November).

That is according to Spurs expert John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.

Dier, 28, tried to head a long ball forward back to Hugo Lloris as the end of the first half loomed against Liverpool on Sunday.

However. the ball hit his shoulder and was picked up by Mohamed Salah ran through and scored his second of the game.

Wenham has not been impressed with the centre half in recent weeks.

“I will always stick up for Eric Dier but since I named him as one of the best centre backs in the league his form has gone off a cliff,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“It’s since the England recall. He went away with confidence and he scored in that last game before the international break.

“His form has just deteriorated. You hate to see it and I’m sorry to see that because he worked so hard for that recall and he thoroughly deserves it after the last 18 months.

“But for whatever reason, his form has been poor in recent weeks. It was a big, big error that cost us in a big, big game.

“I just hope he can get his composure back in time for the Leeds game. Southgate was at the game yesterday, his place may now be in jeopardy.”

Salah scored both goals for the Reds as Harry Kane’s 11th Premier League goal of the season proved nothing more than a consolation.

Tottenham are next in action against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup on Wednesday (9 November).
