Tottenham expert tips Cristian Romero to replace Virgil van Dijk amid '£150m' claim
Tottenham star Cristian Romero will replace Virgil van Dijk or Ruben Diaz in next season’s Premier League team of the season.
That is according to Spurs insider John Wenham, who regularly breaks news about the club on his Lilywhite Rose social media channels.
Romero, 23, won many plaudits for his excellent performance in a 4-0 win over Aston Villa on Saturday (9 April).
Wenham was blown away by the Argentina international and hailed his conduct against Villa.
“A point to make on Romero is that he didn’t get booked on Saturday,” Wenham told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“He also hasn’t been booked in his last three games which means now he cannot reach the 10-game ban for two yellow cards before that all resets.

“That will be wiped before the Brighton game so he will definitely be available for that one.
“I’m impressed he has managed to steer away from a yellow card because we know what he’s like, he is very strong in the tackle.
“I genuinely already think you will see him in the Premier League team of the season next year.
“I think he will replace Van Dijk or Ruben Diaz in that team and in the spotlight of the media.
“With Rudiger likely to leave the Premier League, I think Romero will become one of the league’s outstanding defenders.
“We are going to be laughing because he has all the hallmarks of a £150million Real Madrid defender.”
Romero has made 26 appearances since signing for Spurs in the summer of 2021.
He joined from Juventus on loan with an obligation to buy.
