Tottenham are eyeing Paris Saint-Germain midfield ace Adriend Rabiot, according to a report.
Football news outlet TransferMarketWeb have claimed on their website that the 22-year-old is sought-after this summer, naming each of Spurs, Arsenal and European giants Juventus as holding an interest in him.
It is said that the three-time capped France international is still contracted to the French capital club until 2022 and he could be purchased for around £20.1million this summer.
Tottenham themselves are yet to have delved into the 2017 summer transfer market, but they have been linked with plenty of names and one of those is PSG ace Serge Aurier, who ESPN claimed were the frontrunners for his signature.
However, they could now perform a raid on the French giants for Rabiot, who played in 39 matches in all competitions in the last campaign, scoring on four occasions, while providing five assists.
Rabiot has also won four Ligue 1 titles during his years at PSG and Mauricio Pochettino could view him as the perfect mix of youth and experience.
Football Insider verdict:
It is hard to remember that Rabiot is just 22 years of age when looking at his career honours and he could certainly bring something to the current Tottenham team. However, he is also likely to be on a massive wage at PSG, which is something that Spurs don’t gift to a player unless they have proven themselves at the club. Now, if Rabiot is prepared to compromise in order to play in the Premier League then Spurs should certainly consider a bid at £20million. However, given the club’s strength in the central midfield he is not worth smashing the wage budget for.
