Tottenham are eyeing teenage AC Milan striker Riccardo Tonin alongside Premier League rivals Southampton, according to a report.
Italian news outlet Tutto Mercato Web have claimed on their website that the two English top-flight sides are currently keen on the 16-year-old forward who is currently on the books of the San Siro giants.
Tonin has not yet made his senior debut for Milan, but he has been capped nine times at Under-16 level for the Italy national team, where he has returned three goals.
Both Tottenham and Southampton also have recent history of bringing in youngsters from across Europe before then developing them into stars.
Spurs, meanwhile have Harry Kane and Vincent Janssen in their senior striker ranks, while Shayon Harrison and Kazaiah Sterling are in the youth ranks, but the north Londoners could see Tonin as someone who can grow into a quality player in the future.
Football Insider verdict:
There’s never a guarantee that players like Tonin can become a top quality player and despite their many successes both Tottenham and Southampton have also got some youngster signings wrong in the past. It is also unlikely that AC Milan will let a top talent leave their academy for the Premier League, especially given the Euro giants have plenty of cash once more these days. Therefore, it would be a slight surprise if Tonin does leave Italy for either of Tottenham or Southampton this summer.
