Tottenham will “battle” Liverpool to sign £15million-rated Dinamo Zagreb ace Ante Coric, according to a report.

Football site Squawka has claimed that the two Premier League giants want the 19-year-old with Zagreb prepared to sell the wonderkid in the winter window.

It is stated that the two teams held discussions to sign the young starlet in the summer, but he decided to stay in Croatia at his young age.

Cash-rich Manchester City were also in for the two-time capped Croatia international, but it is reported that he “pulled out of a proposed £15million move after learning that Pep Guardiola planned to send him out on a season-long loan.”

However, his club are said to have been disappointed by his decision and that they will ask for £15million at the least for him again in the winter window.

Coric has four years left on his current contract with Zagreb and has featured in 22 fixtures, scoring four goals and providing four assists this season.

He would add to Spurs’ attack, while also maintaining the club’s policy of investing inyoung players if he was to join Mauricio Pochettino’s team.

However, Liverpool are following similar methods under Jurgen Klopp and will be keen to snap up one of Europe’s brightest young talent’s.

Football Insider verdict:

Coric has become one of the brightest prospects in Europe and could prove to be a real asset for one of the Premier League sides in the long-term. Already being acknowledged by his national team with two league medals and 71 Croatian top flight appearances to his name, he could eventually follow the path of fellow countryman Luka Modric by moving to Spurs from Zagreb before joining Real Madrid and becoming one of the best midfielders in the world. However, he may struggle for game time at the start with the attacking midfield position being well covered at Tottenham, whers Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Erik Lamela are among those competing for places in the team.
