Tottenham fans have delivered mixed verdicts on Twitter to a new report that the club have put Toby Alderweireld up for sale and will listen to offers for Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele this summer.
The Guardian claim that Spurs are set for a talent drain as they face up to the reality of the escalating costs of the new stadium.
It is said that the sale of Kyle Walker for £50million to Manchester City last summer will be followed by some more big-name departures led by Alderweireld, with the wheels already in motion to cash in on the Belgian.
Other stars are in line for exits just a week after Mauricio Pochettino claimed that another manager could take over from him at the end of the season.
That was widely interpreted as a threat to chairman Daniel Levy to provide funds in this summer’s transfer market.
But it appears that Pochettino will have to sell star names before he is able to bring in new recruits who he thinks can improve the team.
That has not gone down well with fans, with one asking what is the point of building the new ground at a cost rising to £1billion and another questioning why some revere Levy.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
What’s the point in building the stadium then?

Surely it makes a lot of sense that an increased revenue stream will only have an affect after what.. 2/3 seasons? Especially keeping in mind that the stadium debt needs to be paid off and that the wage structure needs to be improved. Starting with a new contract for Kane.

We need to stop speculating just let Poch do his thing. Obviously a few players we need to move on in the summer then time to look to add the right players. I think we have missed the pace of Walker and Rose.

And people still hail Levy

There’s a few players I’d be happy to sell, so no big deal.

This has been said time and time again. It’s nothing new. The Players Poch doesn’t want will go and he will bring in who he does want. Trying to make a story out of nothing.
