'Bullied', 'Strange', 'Begging you' - Tottenham fans rage at inexplicable Poch decision in win
By Richard Parks
Tottenham fans took to Twitter to express their anger that Lucas Moura was an unused substitute in their team’s 1-0 Premier League win against Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Spurs secured the victory they needed to qualify for next season’s Champions League through a Harry Kane goal after 50 minutes in the Wembley clash.
With one game remaining, Mauricio Pochettino’s side are four points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea, who could only draw 0-0 with Huddersfield.
It also guarantees they will finish as the season as London’s top club for the first time since 1995, despite playing their home games at Wembley this season while their White Hart Lane home is redeveloped.
Pochettino’s side were way below their fluent best against Newcastle but Kane’s 28th league goal of the campaign guaranteed a third consecutive campaign in Europe’s leading competition.

A section of Tottenham fans were baffled that January signing Moura remained on the substitute’s bench as the team struggled to break down a resolute Newcastle back line.
After being overlooked for a starting place, the Brazilian winger was then ignored, as Pochettino chose to use Erik Lamela, Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld as his three substitutes.
This prompted some strong tweets from Spurs supporters, claiming Moura was being “bullied” and that his omission was an inexplicable decision and “strange.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
Why doesn’t Poch use Moura? Skill, pace, direct everything we are missing right now #COYS

However Poch needs to sit down with Levy & lay it out on what he needs. Toby, Dembele are going to be huge holes to fill & we have to sort put this 2nd striker issue. Plus why is our 2nd joint highest purchase not getting near the team. The exclusion of Moura is strange #COYS

I hope Lucas gets a better shot next season, he clearly brings something different to the attack. He goes at people and he’s not afraid to have a pop. All he needs is more game time and he’ll get it right. #COYS
